Overview
Building a care platform from a blank slate
When I arrived at Vida, the company was only a few months old and I was the first designer they hired. We started with a completely blank slate. In the first couple of months there, two more designers were hired. We had a unique opportunity to shape not only a product from the ground up, but a company as well.
Challenge
Connecting carers, clients and care managers
The challenge was to design an app that allowed carers to manage their appointments with clients and allowed clients to book and monitor the care they were receiving. We also needed to change the culture of an industry built on legacy systems that relied heavily on analogue means for a large part of its operations. We needed to get both carers and care managers to understand and buy into what we were building.
Research
Learning from the people delivering care
In the early stages, I wanted to understand more about the care industry. So I spoke to all of the care managers at Vida. Through many collaborative sessions, we could gather what we needed to make the products that we were building compliant with all the regulations involved with delivering care in the UK.
